Hello fellow booklovers! I am so happy to see you at my new place, Literarily Thrilling. After much thought and consideration, I decided that The Book Cover Judge just no longer represented me as a reader nor a blogger. Making the switch from Wordpress has been on my mind for a while. And I knew that, if I was going to make that switch, doing a rebrand during that time would be my best bet.
I am happy that you have followed me from there to here. And if you are new — welcome! I am in the process of bringing over all my reviews and some of my favorite bookish themed posts from the old blog to here. I have my 2019 backlog moved over already! I’ll be working on bringing over previous years during the next few weeks but I couldn’t wait until it was done to start blogging.
All that long intro…let’s get into why you are here! I had a little extra money fall into my lap, so I decided to splurge on some books on my Amazon wishlist. They came today and I wanted to share with you all the books that I picked!
The one I am probably most excited about is Pink: The History of a Punk, Pretty, Powerful Color. Just flipping through the pages shows it will be a fantastic table book. I love art history books and I have a lot of color theory/themed books on my Amazon wishlist. I wanted to purchase more of those but I tried to be more selective and get a decent variety.
I picked up one nonfiction book, Selfish, Shallow, and Self-Absorbed: Sixteen Writers on the Decision to Not Have Kids. As someone who decided when she was 12 to not have kids but who has chosen to work in the early childhood field, I get lots and lots and lots of questions on why I don’t have children yet. I do have a few friends who are part of the childfree lifestyle and the ones who aren’t part of it are incredibly supportive. I’ve had this on my TBR since it came out and I look forward to reading what others have to say on the subject.
Next, I picked up a book by Taylor Jenkins Reid titled Maybe In Another Life. As with others, I fell in love with Jenkins’ writing when I discovered The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. I’m not sure this one is “for me”, necessarily, but I was interested in trying some of her back catalogue and this one was recommended by many.
Last, I grabbed Little. I remember reading about this in a magazine before it came out and I have wanted to purchase it ever since. I’m not sure why I haven’t until now but this one I’ve heard is very, very good, as well!.
And that’s it! That’s my current book haul. We just had a book store open in town and I will be checking it out this weekend, so there’s a possibility that I will be having another one a lot sooner than normal. I really need to go through my current own books and pick the ones out that I no longer wish to read so I can take it to the new bookstore for credit. I’ll hopefully get to do that soon, and I’ll be sure to let you know how it all goes!
What was your most recent book purchase?
